Request a temporary laptop

If you're an HMS or HSDM student needing a laptop temporarily, either for an exam or while your primary device is undergoing repairs, our loaner laptop service is here to assist. With a simple request, you can get access to a fully-functional laptop for the required duration, ensuring your academic work doesn't come to a halt.

To access this service, visit the HMS IT Service Desk or the Computer Resource Center in Tosteson Medical Education Center (TMEC) 225.

  • Eligibility

    Get a loaner laptop if you're an HMS or HSDM student.
    Repairs Exams

    For repair loaners, only HMS MD, HMS masters, and HSDM DMD students can only use this service when their personal computer is under repair. A documented proof of repair, such as a work order or repair authorization receipt, must be provided. Other faculty, staff, and students are not eligible for repair loaners. If you're facing financial constraints for computer repairs or replacement, the HMS Financial Aid Office might be able to help.

    Exam loaners are available for students taking HMS-sponsored exams using Examplify or NBME SHELF exam software. If your computer doesn't meet the necessary exam specifications or is unfit for the software, HMS IT can provide you with a laptop for the exam.
