Secure your HMS account with two-factor authentication and passwordless sign-in
Okta Verify is the two-factor authentication (2FA) method used at Harvard Medical School to provide secure access to protected applications and systems. It enhances security by requiring a second step to confirm your identity when signing into your HMS account. This additional step prevents unauthorized access, even if your password is compromised.
Okta Verify provides:
- Enhanced security – Adds a critical layer of protection beyond your password.
- Ease of use – Approve sign-ins easily with a push notification or biometric verification (fingerprint or face recognition).
- Passwordless access – With Okta FastPass, you can use device-based authentication methods (like Touch ID, Face ID, or Windows Hello) to sign in quickly without entering your password.

Manage your account
You can manage your enrolled devices, update your verification methods, and configure preferences anytime by visiting the HMS Okta dashboard. Enter your HMS account ID (typically in the format ABC123; you can find this under HMS ID on your profile page after signing in on the HMS Service Portal.)
