Harvard Medical School provides email accounts to its faculty, staff, students, and certain guests to support the School's mission. These accounts allow access to various features like email, calendaring, contacts, and mailing lists.

Eligibility for faculty, students, and staff
Access an HMS email account based on your affiliation with the schoolFaculty, Students StaffEligibility for an email account at Harvard Medical School (HMS) extends to staff members, faculty, and students. HMS proactively creates email accounts for its staff, faculty, and students. However, changes in one's eligibility status, including retirement or separation from HMS, may impact the status of their email account.

Eligibility for guests and contingent workers
Some guests, LHTs, temps, and interns may be eligibleCriteria FormsThose not automatically assigned an HMS email account may qualify for one if they have an academic appointment, a legitimate business need, or meet other criteria.
For a guest to obtain an HMS email account, they must have an HSR sponsor request a Harvard Sponsored Role type that is eligible for email. The sponsor must also request the email account when requesting the Harvard Sponsored Role for the guest. If the role is approved, the guest will automatically receive an HMS account, including email access, within 24 hours of the role's start date.
For a contingent worker (including temporary employees, interns, or less-than-half-time staff) to obtain an HMS email account, they must use the form to request an email account for temps, LHTs, and interns.
