Transfer contacts in Jabber by January 5

To enhance safety, spam filtering, and update speed, Harvard is transitioning from Jabber to Webex for softphone services. A softphone allows calls over the internet using a computer or mobile device.

Follow these steps for a smooth transition from Jabber to Webex:

Before Friday, January 5, 2024 – Sign in to Jabber to manually record any contacts you wish to keep. Jabber doesn't support automatic contact export, so you must copy them individually to a different location, like a contact management app or a spreadsheet. A backup of voicemail greetings, PINs, messages, and settings as of December 1 will be automatically transferred to Webex. However, any new information or changes made from December 5, 2023, to January 5, 2024, will not be transferred. If you want to save voicemails received between these dates, set up a voicemail relay by following these instructions: Voicemail Relay to Email

From Friday, January 5 to Monday, January 8, 2024 – The migration to Webex will occur. Access to both Jabber and Webex will be unavailable during this period. However, any physical desk phones connected to your number will remain functional.

After January 8, 2024 – You can download, sign in, and use Webex for your softphone services.
