Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Gaby completed a Microbiology degree at the University of Puerto Rico, Arecibo. He went on to pursue a graduate degree at the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2013, where he earned his doctoral degree in Organismic and Evolutionary Biology. During graduate school, Gaby leveraged his computer science and microbiology background to crunch large amounts of data to identify biological signals and patterns. It also brought to him the opportunity to conduct research at the bench and develop new computational workflows.
In 2019, he joined Research Computing at HMS to support the community with a wide range of computational needs around multi-omics analyses, data visualization, training, consultations, and more. Gaby enjoys the HMS team-oriented environment with his colleagues and working with top-notch scientists who are constantly pushing the boundaries of technology in medicine and other sciences.
Growing up Gaby took care of two goats, four parakeets, two lovebirds, and countless chickens and rabbits, but unfortunately is currently without pets.
