Access and manage online surveys and research data

REDCap (Research Electronic Data Capture) is a web-based app for designing and managing online surveys, especially for research and clinical studies. This service, born from a consortium pioneered at Vanderbilt University, ensures reliable data capture essential for modern research.

Eligibility

Eligibility revolves around affiliation and project type.
HMS HSDM

REDCap is available for HMS and HSDM Quad-based faculty, staff, and postdoctoral researchers. Students working in HMS- and HSDM-based research labs can access it with approval. However, other HMS affiliates don't qualify for this license. For HMS IRB studies in REDCap, users must be listed on the active approved IRB.

Note – Hospital affiliates are not eligible for this service.

Security

The platform is secure, but take note of data types.
DSL 4 NOT HIPAA-compliant

REDCap offers a secure web connection with authentication and data logging. It's approved for use with Harvard Data Security Level 4 data. However, it is NOT a HIPAA-compliant service and can not be used to host any protected health information.
