Legacy routers retired to improve network performance
Faster, more reliable network connectivity across HMS
Researchers and staff across HMS now have access to significantly faster and more reliable network connections following the recent retirement of legacy core routers.
This upgrade, led by HMS IT, is part of a strategic, long-term investment in advanced networking infrastructure across the HMS campus and its affiliated data centers. It marks the end of networking equipment first deployed over a decade ago and introduces a new, state-of-the-art, 400Gb-capable network backbone.
Key benefits include:
Increased data throughput speed between HMS campus buildings, research labs, and affiliated facilities, such as the Markley Data Center and Massachusetts Green High-Performance Computing Center (MGHPCC)
Enhanced support for data-intensive research and applications
Improved energy efficiency and reduced cooling requirements
HMS IT will continue to enhance infrastructure, preparing our network for future innovations in research technology and collaboration.
