Join the new Harvard Secure and HMS Guest Wi-Fi networks

These new networks replace HMS Private and HMS Public.

How to connect

Follow these steps to connect to these new networks.

Harvard Secure

Harvard Secure is already widely available at the Cambridge location and the HMS campus, providing users access to a secure network connection protected by encryption and firewall. If you have not already done so, register your device to connect to Harvard Secure by following these steps:

If on campus:

  1. Connect to the HMS Guest wireless network
  2. Select Register your wireless device and follow the prompts to install the certificate and connect
  3. Sign in with your HMS account ID (eCommons ID) and password
  4. Restart computer

If you have a Mac device and are experiencing issues with the instructions as mentioned earlier, contact
itsupport_admin@hms.harvard.edu or visit Tosteson Medical Education Center (TMEC) 225 for walk-up wireless support.

If off-campus:

  1. Go to the wireless registration page
  2. Select Sign in
  3. Follow the prompts to install the certificate and connect

After your device is registered and you have installed the required SecureW2 certificate, you will see the HMS
wireless profile in your Wi-Fi settings. This profile will allow you to connect to Harvard Secure and eduroam.

HMS Guest

If you are on campus:
1. Connect to the HMS Guest wireless network
2. Follow the prompts to register as a guest
3. Check your email inbox for confirmation to complete the registration.

Note – Starting November 8, laptops connecting to the Harvard Secure network will be required to adhere to minimum OS standards. These align with the measures which have already been set forth for wired network access.
