Changes to your HMS account password

Your HarvardKey password will now serve as your HMS account password. This change is triggered when you sign in using HarvardKey and may have already occurred for your account.

After this change has been triggered:

• Your HMS ID account and HarvardKey will use the same password.
• You must use your current HarvardKey password to sign in to your HMS ID account.
• In 1Password, update the entry for your HMS account to reflect your HarvardKey password.
• If you need to change your password for either sign-in method, use the HarvardKey password reset process, which will update both accounts.

As indicated in the January 13 email from Harvard University Information Technology (HUIT), the suddenness of this change is the inadvertent result of an update to HarvardKey. We appreciate your patience as we work to help you maintain access to Harvard and HMS systems.
