Originally from Massachusetts, Kathleen received a BS in Biology from University of New Hampshire in 2010. She then went to the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign for graduate school. After obtaining a MS in Bioinformatics, she remained at the University working as data analyst for HPCBio, a bioinformatics core facility.
In 2016, Kathleen relocated to her home state to join the HMS Research Computing team and be closer to family. As a Research Computing Consultant, Kathleen helps researchers gain the skills required to run their computational workflows independently on the O2 compute cluster. She also teaches training classes (such as “Introduction to O2”), acts as the subject matter expert for the eLabNext pilot project, and is collaborating with colleagues to roll out a new O2 quota tool for cluster users to check their storage utilization and limits.
In her free time, Kathleen enjoys spending time with her family, making good use of her public library card, and cross stitching while cuddling her cat!
