
Jeffrey Farese
As Interim Chief Technology Officer at Harvard Medical School (HMS), Jeff Farese provides strategic leadership in technology infrastructure and operations, ensuring scalable, reliable, and innovative solutions that support HMS’s research, education, and administrative missions. He works across HMS and Harvard’s broader ecosystem to align technology strategy with institutional goals, enhance operational efficiency, and drive shared solutions.
Jeff plays a key role in modernizing HMS’s foundational IT capabilities, overseeing large-scale technology investments, and shaping infrastructure strategy. He recently led the successful HMS data center relocation, improving performance, efficiency, and long-term sustainability. His focus areas include hybrid multi-cloud strategy, high-performance computing, enterprise infrastructure, networking, data centers, and automation to strengthen technology resilience and agility.
Before joining HMS, Jeff held leadership roles at Northeastern University, the University of Georgia, and the University of Connecticut, where he led IT infrastructure modernization initiatives.
Jeff holds a Master of Science in Technology Management from Wentworth Institute of Technology and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Saint Anselm College.
